Temporary Changes to Accepted Mental Health Practitioners – How to submit your claims

15 January 2021

In March 2020, the Government of Canada announced temporary changes to the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) to ensure it remained accessible to all members and their dependants during the Covid-19 pandemic. The list of accepted mental health practitioners was temporary extended to include social workers in all areas across the country, along with psychotherapists/ counsellors. Additionally, the requirement to have a prescription for mental health services under the PSHCP was temporarily suspended. These changes will remain in effect until further notice.

Please note that to be covered for the services of a social worker, a psychotherapist or a counsellor, all claims must be sent by mail using a completed and signed PSHCP Claim Form for members with Supplementary Coverage or a PSHCP Claim Form for Out-of-Country Claims for members with Comprehensive Coverage. Please attach all supporting documentation (original receipts, bills, invoices, physician or practitioner statements, and/or questionnaires, etc.) and mail the form to the following address:
